Caledonia - Homecoming Scotland 2009

"Homecoming Scotland 2009 marks the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns birth. A spectacular calendar of events will mark Scotland's first ever Homecoming year. So, whether you're a Scot, of Scottish descent, or simply love Scotland, you're invited!"

The video is one of the two adverts to be shown on Scottish television and in cinemas throughout Scotland in late 2008 and into 2009 (where Scots are already home!). It might be shown in England later and is only getting a limited showing in America or Canada, New Zealand or Australia which have large communities whom you would expect to be interested in the year of homecoming.

The advert features Amy Macdonald, Sir Chris Hoy, Brian Cox, Sam Torrance, Eddi Reader, Tom Evans, Kelly Brown, Sandi Thom, Sir Sean Connery and Lulu and was created by VisitScotland and EventScotland.

The song Caledonia was written by Dougie MacLean and first released at the end of the 1970s. It entered the charts in the early 1990s when sung by Frankie Miller and has subsequently been recorded by many musicians, most recently Paolo Nutini and Celtic Woman.
